Steven Gerrard was forced off injured and lone striker David Ngog missed a couple of chances, Yossi Benayoun scored in front of the Kop to put Liverpool ahead of Lyon. Liverpool were hit with a sucker punch in the 72nd minute as after Toulalan and Govou were denied by Riena, Maxime Gonalons eventually headed in from the third attempt. As the game moved into injury time, after Benitez was booed for withdrawing Benayoun, Lyon netted their winner as Chelito Delgado met a cross at the backpost.

Wigan broke the deadlock with virtually the last kick of the first half, Scotland flicked the ball onto Hugo Rodallega down the left side of the box, his cross was only parried by Given and Charles N’Zogbia beat Bridge to the ball to score. City levelled seconds into the second half as Martin Petrov arrowed a drive into the bottom corner. On the hour mark City had Zabaleta dismissed for two bookings an that somewhat killed the game as the Citizens opted to shut up shop and hold on for the point.

The USA last played Costa Rica on June 3 in a World Cup qualifier in San Jose, Costa Rica. In that game, Costa Rica scored in the second minute and cruised to an easy 3-1 victory.

TONIGHT'S big game between England and Ukraine will not be on TV tonight due to a battle of rights.
However do not fear as the 5.15pm World Cup Qualifier will be on at Odeon, in Hatfield, with tickets costing £8 for adults, £5.50 for children, or £20 for a family ticket.
England have already booked their place in South Africa ahead of their penultimate qualifying fixture in Ukraine later today, but Portugal’s position is still in the balance.
